On a quest for my grandson, Sahaas, to find out what Chinese kids do at recess. On Friday we were at an elementary school, so that was my first opportunity to check it out. When we first arrived at the school they were about to start recess. See pictures of the students heading to the playground with enthusiasm! They played games a lot like American kids do. They had some playground equipment, some kids played basketball, some played something like dodgeball. Many just ran! They played for 10 minutes and then back in. We found out that they have a 10 minute recess between their classes. All of their teachers teach just one subject, so they are not in a class with the same teacher all day. The teachers move to them. After school some students have special interest activities. See the dance group practicing in the photo as an example of that.
